privacy policy
helumi stores your files so you can use them from your mac without filling it up. this page explains, in plain words, what we keep, why, and what we never do.
the short version
- your files are yours. we don’t look at them, sell them, or use them to train anything.
- we collect only what helumi needs to work: your email, your files, and the names and details of your files.
- no ads, and no tracking cookies on our website.
- you can delete your account and everything in it at any time, right in the app.
what we keep
- your account: you sign in with google. google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us, and we use them only to sign you in and show your account. we never see your google password, and we can’t see your gmail, google drive, contacts or anything else in your google account.
- your files: the contents of the files you put in helumi, stored encrypted by our storage provider.
- details of your files: names, folders, sizes and dates, so the helumi drive can show them in finder.
- links you create: share links and file-request links, and how many times a shared file was downloaded.
- early access list: if you join it on our website, your email address, so we can tell you when helumi is ready.
- error reports: when something goes wrong in the helumi app, it sends us a short technical report (the kind of error, crash details, and the helumi and macos versions) so we can fix it. reports never include your files or their names. you can turn them off in helumi settings.
- feedback: messages you send us from the app, with your email so we can reply, and technical details if you choose to include them.
- technical logs: our servers keep short-lived records of requests (such as ip addresses and times) to keep helumi secure and fix problems.
what we never do
- we don’t open or read your files, except when you ask for help with a specific file, or when the law requires it.
- we don’t sell or rent your information to anyone.
- we don’t show ads, and we don’t use your files to train ai models.
- helumi’s use of information received from google follows the google api services user data policy, including its limited use requirements.
who helps us run helumi
- cloudflare runs our servers and stores your files and file details.
- dodo payments handles payments for plans. they receive your payment details directly. we never see or store your card number.
- vercel hosts this website.
- google confirms who you are when you sign in.
they only get what they need to do their part, and they must protect it.
files people share with you
anyone with a share link can download that file, and anyone with a file-request link can send files into that folder. stop sharing any time to turn a link off.
how long we keep things
- your files stay until you delete them.
- deleted files are kept for 30 days so you can bring them back, then removed for good.
- we keep nightly backups of our records (account and file details, not file contents) for 14 days, to recover from mistakes.
- error reports are deleted after 90 days.
- if you close your account, we delete your files and details. backups that include them expire within 14 days.
on your mac
helumi keeps pieces of recently opened files on your mac so they open fast, plus any files you choose to keep on this mac. these stay on your mac only. signing out removes them.
your choices
- see and download everything you store, any time, in finder.
- delete any file, or delete your whole account yourself in helumi settings → account.
- turn error reports off in helumi settings → general.
- leave the early access list by asking us.
children
helumi isn’t for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly keep their information.
changes
if we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you by email before it applies.
