hey, i’m abhi 👋 from india 🇮🇳. i run a small agency with clients all over the world 🌍, and i build my own products too.

what is helumi?

a new drive in finder with terabytes of space. your files look and open like normal, but they live in the cloud, so they take no space on your mac.

how can a file open instantly if it isn’t on my mac?

helumi only grabs the part your app needs, right when it needs it. a video starts as soon as the first seconds arrive. skip ahead, and it grabs just that part.

how is helumi different from icloud drive, dropbox or google drive?

icloud and dropbox download the whole file before you can open it, and then it takes up space on your mac. helumi only grabs the part you use, so big files open fast and your mac stays free. google drive can stream too, but helumi is made just for the mac.

will it work with my apps?

yes. helumi is a normal drive, so your apps just see it. we tested davinci resolve, final cut pro, imovie, capcut, quicktime and preview, and ai tools like claude and chatgpt. nothing extra to install.

can i see my files on my phone?

yes. open helumi.app in any browser, on a phone or any computer, to see, open and share your files.

do i need an internet connection?

for most files, yes. to work offline, right-click a folder and choose keep on this mac. new files you add wait on your mac and upload when you’re back online.

how does helumi protect my files?

your files are end-to-end encrypted on your mac before they leave it. only you hold the key, so not even we can open them. deleted files stay for 30 days, and edits on two macs never overwrite each other.

what if i lose my key?

when you set up helumi you get a recovery key. keep it somewhere safe. with it, you can always get back in. without it, no one can open your files, not even us.

what happens if i stop paying?

we never delete your files. you just can’t add new ones until you pick a plan again.

what if helumi ever closes?

we’ll email you at least 90 days before, so there’s plenty of time to copy your files off helumi. your files stay safe and open the whole time.

what are the system requirements?

a mac with macOS 26 tahoe or newer. helumi uses apple’s newest drive technology, which arrived in macOS 26.
